Firearms Familiarity & Safety (FFS) is a classroom and range based curriculum that is designed to allow students who are interested in firearms or new firearm owners to form a foundational knowledge of the basic design and function of modern firearms, and to engrain the fundamentals of firearms safety procedures.

New firearms owners have the option to bring their new firearms to the class for an additional live-fire segment of the curriculum after the primary classroom based training has been completed.

If you intend to bring your own firearm please select the “Classroom & Live-fire”. Additionally, you are responsible to bring a maximum of 50 rounds of ammunition.

Topics to be covered:

Classroom:

  1. Components of Common Firearms

  2. The 4 Universal Safety Rules

  3. How to Clear a Firearm

  4. Additional Good Practices of Range Safety

  5. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  6. Weapon Commands

  7. Range Commands

Live-fire Segment:

  1. Shooting Stance

  2. How to Handle

  3. Sight Picture & Alignment

  4. Accurate Shooting

  5. Recoil Management

This course can be completed in approximately 8-10 hours, with a maximum class size of 10 students.
